Let's talk about safety in Seward.

Running a business comes with enough challenges. Navigating public safety concerns, nearby encampments, open-air drug use, and behavioral health crises adds another layer of stress for business owners and employees.

These challenges affect more than daily operations. They affect employees, customers, foot traffic, and the well-being of the people who keep our business community running.

SCCA is bringing businesses and community partners together for a conversation focused on resources, support, and practical solutions while maintaining humanity, dignity, and an understanding of the complexity of these issues.

We want to hear directly from business owners and employees about the ongoing safety concerns they're experiencing. Together, we'll identify shared challenges, discuss possible solutions, and develop priorities to bring to our Minneapolis City Council representatives.

We also want business owners and employees to know that their experiences matter. The stress and emotional toll of navigating these situations deserve to be acknowledged, too.

Guest speakers:

Hennepin County COPE - available mental health and crisis response resources, how to navigate challenging situations, and where to turn for help.

Twin Cities Recovery Project will also provide nasal naloxone (Narcan) training at the end of the meeting, helping attendees learn how to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose.

This isn't a meeting to vent about the problems. It's an opportunity to work toward solutions. Our goal is to leave with more than information. We want to strengthen connections, identify practical next steps, and work together toward a safer, more supportive business community.
