The bi-annual King’s Fair is back again this year on Saturday, September 19 from Noon to 5 pm at Matthew’s Park. This year’s Fair promises to be jam packed with activities, food, music and fun for the whole family! (Click on above poster for larger image) This is a neighborhood fair so the activities and music are as varied and eclectic as the people of Seward.
There is something for everyone: if you like physical challenges, check out the 5th Annual Twin Cities Strongest Man & Woman Contest sponsored by Los Campeones Gym, where men and women compete for trophies, prize money and glory in events like the Keg Toss, Farmer Carry Medley, and Atlas Stone.
There are many activities for children and families, including a Petting Zoo, Pony Rides, Dog Costume Parade & Contest, Moon Walk, Jugglers, Hula Hoop – Pop Up Hoop Jam, ArtiCulture-sponsored art activities and more.
Musical performances include:
- Jim Chenowith Trio – jazz, 60’s classics & originals
- Argos – Somali oud (stringed instrument) music & song
- Top Rookie – local high school rap trio
- The Coxmen – old fashioned rural hip hop & rock
- Machinery Hill – folk rock, alternative, Americana
Food vendors scheduled for the Fair include Café Racer Food Truck, the Birchwood Café and Precision Grind Coffee. For more details and a schedule of events, visit the SNG King’s Fair webpage. The event is organized by the Seward Neighborhood Group and Matthew’s Park/Minneapolis Park Board; sponsors include SCCA, Seward Co-op, Augsburg College, Mpls Community Education, Fun City Dogs, Pizza Luce and Jim’s Barber Shop.
