New Laundromat in Seward

You may have noticed all the construction work happening at 27th and Franklin. The retail store formerly home to the famous ‘Filmzilla’ is in the process of being converted into a laundromat for the Seward Community. At last month’s Seward Neighborhood Group meeting, Tabatha Obert offered more information on the proposed laundromat and addressed a couple of concerns that had been raised by the neighborhood, specifically about safety and odors.

According to market research done by owner Louie Kader, there is sufficient demand for a new laundromat in this area. The laundromat will have the most energy efficient and top of the line equipment, including odor preventative ventilation. They are also adding additional windows for aesthetics and safety, as well as having an attendant on site during operating hours. The laundromat will offer eco-friendly detergent options well for customer convenience. Mr. Kader has gotten to know what Seward is like through the several months that he has co-owned the Franklin Freeze with Ms. Obert.

According to Obert, it looks like the Laundromat will not open until summer, or possibly later.
