The 2012 Seward Winter Frolic November 30th – December 2nd

This winter, the Seward Neighborhood Group, The Seward Civic and Commerce Association, and the Seward Co-op invite you to come experience and celebrate Seward’s unique culture at the 2012 Seward Winter Frolic: Art in the ‘Hood. Starting with the opening festivities on Friday and continuing through an art crawl on Sunday, the weekend-long festival will provide an excellent opportunity to experience and support the work of Seward’s artistic community.

The event will kick off on Friday, November 30th with opening festivities at the Playwright’s Center on Franklin. The festivities, which will include food, wine, and a variety of performance artists, provide a great opportunity to check out the people and culture of Seward. Saturday will feature a number of fun events, including a Kids Pizza Party from 12-2pm at Pizza Luce and a reading and signing of The Dragon and the Christmas Tree by local author and illustrator Patrick Ledray and Kim Gordon. Following these events, as well as an art crawl and art car parade Saturday afternoon, the crowd will gather in Triangle Park for a Lighting Ceremony that will feature a women’s drumming group and fire dancers. An art crawl from noon-5pm on Sunday will conclude the event, providing a great opportunity to peruse the work of local artists at a variety of Seward businesses.

Whether you want to enjoy some great food and wine, support local artists with gifts for the holidays, or just experience Seward’s unique community feel, the Winter Frolic has something for you. SNG, SCCA, and the Seward Co-op invite you to come out and enjoy the celebrations while supporting your thriving local economy. Check out the website at www.sewardarts.org to learn more about the Frolic and register for events, and feel free to shoot Kerry Cashman an email at Kerry@sng.org if you are interested in volunteering with the festival.
