Facade Improvement Funds Available

Façade Improvement Program

HAYAT Before

Does your storefront have peeling paint? Need new signage or exterior light fixtures? Are your windows drafty in the winter? Hayat Salon used a Façade Improvement Program grant to install an attractive awning that makes their business more visible from the street. Redesign still has sufficient funds from the City of Minneapolis to help with a few more façade improvement projects this summer and fall. Eligible projects include:

  • exterior painting
  • re-siding
  • masonry repairs
  • windows and doors
  • murals
  • removal of barriers to access building from outside  for individuals with disabilities
  • awning installations
  • signage

The façade improvement program is a one to one matching grant with a cap of $5,000. That means you get a dollar of grant for every dollar you spend to improve the exterior of your building. Businesses along the Franklin Avenue Corridor and within a quarter mile of the light rail station are eligible to receive grants.

Redesign also has a donation of paint from Valspar. If you have a mural in mind, or a small exterior paint project, send us a note! The paint is available to anyone in Seward or Greater Longfellow. To apply, contact Renee at 612-435-0279 for more information, or email at renee@redesigninc.org.
